BIGBANG WINS WORLDWIDE ACT EMA AWARD OVER BRITNEY SPEARS & OTHERS

Well this is sure an indication K-Pop has hit HARD! BIGBANG, the five-member K-Pop boyband created in 2006 and one of South Korea’s biggest acts, snagged the Worldwide Act Award at the European MTV Awards this week. Their competition was relatively tough as they represented South Korea/Asia against Abdelfattah Grini (Africa/India/Middle East), Lena (Europe), Restart (Latin America), and the biggest competition from Britney Spears (North America). Check the video of their win  below and why I think the award is totally legitmate after the cut.

While it may be easy for (the crazed) Britney Spears fans to say that the only reason she lost was because BIGBANG showed up to the awards. And why wouldn’t they regardless if they won or loss, this is huge international exposure for them? The thing is I’m POSITIVE that MTV would play an acceptance speech video from Britney Spears for the show. They didn’t need BIGBANG to show up, but they would love Britney. But instead the Asian act won and that’s how the record books will! Congrats BIGBANG! This is huge for K-Pop!

  1. K-Pop are the true pop stars. They know how to sing and attract the audience very well. They have the capacity to beat anyone. No wonder if they snatch more award from the top rank singers.

  2. Their doing what everyone else is not doing which actually is performing, dancing, full charisma, singing, humble, catchy songs etc etc. thats why they matter now a lot. U.S artist should take notes.
