Today’s Song of The Day, which should be double titled as Music Video of The Day, is inspired by The Foo Fighters coming back and recently reminding me why I think Dave Grohl is so cool. I remember watching VH1’s Top 20 Video Countdown on the weekends and being absolutely enthralled (at age 10) with the “Learn To Fly” music video, which seeped into my love for the song. The Foo Fighters also just performed their new single “Rope” for the first time on a Swedish TV show.
The “Learn To Fly” music video shows Foo Fighters’ lead singer Dave Grohl playing a ton of different characters including a flight attendant, teenage nerdy girl, a morbidly obese woman, his famous self, amongst others. The video is absolutely hilarious with a funny story line and the bandmembers ultimately saving the day…yippee! This music video is actually a must see, so I really hope you check it out (and enjoy). My favorite part? Morbidly obese female David licking his teeth while fantasizing about seeing another flyer’s head as a hamburger. Amazing.
The Foo Fighters are also back on the scene with their new single “Rope,” which does not have the same radio rock appeal as “Learn To Fly” does but is still quite good. It somewhat borders hardcore, but still has a more alternative rock/mainstream appeal which should bode well with fans of this band who have been waiting patiently since their last album came out 4 years ago. The new album which includes “Rope,” titled Wasting Light is set to be released April 12th of this year. I am interested to see what they come up with. Check out the “Rope” performance on Swedish television Skavlan as well as an interview with Dave Grohl from the show below.
