LADY GAGA PREVIEWS NEW SONG “GOVERNMENT HOOKER” AT THIERRY MUGLER SHOW FOR PARIS FASHION WEEK

Similar to what she did with “Bad Romance,” Lady GaGa previewed a new song of hers, this one titled “Government Hooker,” at the Thierry Mugler Show during Paris Fashion Week; where she also made her runway debut (picture at the left).

The track is yet another teaser GaGa has offered from her hugely hyped up Born This Way album. Is this song living up the hype GaGa & her team have been creating? Hear & get my early thoughts on the track below:

“Government Hooker” starts off surprisingly unique. With an operatic introduction with GaGa showing off sides of her vocal chops that she never has before. Most pop singers couldn’t even make this work much less make it seam flawlessly with what turns into a club banger of a track. Yet GaGa does so effortlessly.

The track then turns into what is a hot club track with some added emotion (“I’m gonna drink my tears tonight, I’m gonna drink my tears and cry”) with some awesome 80’s/90’s influences there; especially on the chorus–which is similar to how “Born This Way” has been structured–and they really do nail it when it comes to those songs.

But ultimately this song is nothing particularly STRIKING. It’s just another hot, but I think slightly outdated, beat. Maybe when the full lyrics and production come out, it’ll prove to be something more remarkable but right now, once again, GaGa’s work is proving to be extremely “hit” based and not as unique as everyone is making it out to be.

Listen to the recording from the show below, and let me know your thoughts.
