Giving tribute to who Rolling Stone named The Greatest Singer of All Time will be none other than Yolanda Adams, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride, and Florence Welch. Read on below
What is particularly interesting about the arrangement of these 5 singers is the different genres they all incorporate, with a breakdown like so:
Yolanda Adams – Gospel
Christina Aguilera – Pop
Jennifer Hudson – R&B
Martina McBridge – Country
Florence Welch – Rock
So there will basically be no genre untouched in this tribute. VERY smart move by The Grammys…they must have gotten someone great to put this together. Now if only their voting community could get it together…Regardless this is going to be a must see.
I have no idea about who will be performing what song or if anyone will be performing together, but I doubt Christina will sing along with any of the girls since the only time she did that was as the celebrity singer during The UK X Factor finals this year and she blew poor little Rebecca Ferguson out of the water when they duetted on “Beautiful”! But then again, if the first time she did it was just this past November perhaps we’ll see it again this year too. Only for the queen!
As well if anyone is going to tackle “Respect” (Aretha’s most iconic song) I’m going to put my bets on Jennifer Hudson since this girl has proven she can NAIL the classics, last year wowing everyone with a perfect rendition of Whitney Houston‘s “I Will Always Love You” that had Whitney herself on her feet. Check that here.
NOW, watch this Aretha Franklin mash-up and bask in her amazingly cooky personality, NOW!!!!
