21 is proving to be better and better! And that’s not just because I can get into the bars now (my 21st birthday was November 12th earlier this year…thank you in advance for the belated birthday wishes). Adele‘s latest song to be heard from her upcoming album is “Set Fire To The Rain.” With an interesting producer choice, Fraser T. Smith (Taio Cruz’s main main and an upcoming producer on Britney Spears’ new album) the two make an emotional, hard-hitting mainstream ballad that works on so many levels. While I’m a bigger fan of the less typical “Rolling In The Deep” and her beautiful ballads–this IS something different for Adele and really is a good move.
This could end up being a huge hit for her if it ends up being released. It was exclusively premiered on British radio (I’m assuming BBC’s Radio 1) and could be an indication of a single, I’m hearing whispers it may be released instead of “Someone Like You.” It would be an interesting move since this could not only give Adele a mainstream hit (I could see it doing wonders in The UK) and already capitalize on her critical success that will make her album a hit, but could also expose Adele to a younger audience and make her a critical and mainstream success. Smart, smart move if these are the plans! Take a listen to a radio rip below:
