NATALIA KILLS PERFORMS “MIRRORS” ACOUSTIC

This was supposed to be released earlier last night, but I ended falling asleep before it did. Natalia Kills proved to listeners that amongst her autotuned buzz singles and the sleekly produced first single, she truly CAN sing with an acoustic performance of that first single “Mirrors” live from The Cherrytree House.

Looking like a gothic droog, Natalia showed a different side of her by sweetly singing over a Cherrytree Records President Martin “Cherry Cherry Boom Boom” Kierszenbaum on piano (that sound familiar? Labelmate Lady GaGa namedropped him in several songs from The Fame including “Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)”). It was a smart move to release the acoustic videos with such big and electronic productions (and no high-profile performances to her name yet) listeners could question her vocal abilities–for some reason I was as well, probably from some low quality performance video that I shouldn’t have judged anyway.

Natalia Kills is set to open for Robyn’s next US tour coming soon, and in the meantime will hopefully find some success with “Mirrors.” The girl deserves it for making unique pop and striking visuals bring her whole artistry to the next level. Her upcoming album Perfectionist is said to be released in March, but I’d take that with a grain of salt if the single (or next single) still hasn’t taken off by then.

Take a listen to the acoustic version below and then after the cut, familiarize yourself with the “Mirrors” music video which is by far one of the best of 2010.
