What do you get when you mix two #1 singles from the year, dancing drag queens, Santa Clause, and a pinata in the shape of a rabbit? You get Billboard’s Hot 100 Artist of the Year Ke$ha’s final performance of the year. Ke$ha ended her incredible 2010 with an appropiate medley of “We R Who We R” and “TiK ToK” on Dick Clark’s Rockin New Year. Complete with an entire band, two dancing back-up singers, and two drag queen-esque dancers, Ke$ha’s stage show has proven to come a long way in the last 12 months showing on point vocals and tight correography–though never coming off too polished in true Ke$ha style always proving she’s having fun and enjoying everything she’s doing to the fullest extent.
Ke$ha unpretentiousness was taken to new heights with this performance though when before hitting the bridge a man in a Santa Claus suit came on stage where pop’s golden grime girl jumped on his shoulders and performed the bridge before falling off his shoulders to her back-up singers (just barely) catching her. Afterwards, viewers finally found out why there was a hanging rabbit pinata when Ke$ha and her girls beat the pinata with baseball bats as the perfect, random, completely unnecessary, but at the same time completely necessary ending to the perfect performance medley for Ke$ha.
2011 should see Ke$ha releasing more singles from her new Cannibal EP, and possibly a new album, but time will have to see. In the meantime, check out the must-see performance below:
